Music

Music is taught by a specialist teacher across the school. Children are taught about a range of musicians, songs and learn to play a variety of instruments including ukulele, recorder, chime bars and a range of percussion. Performance is valued, not just within the music lesson but in the wider school community, with children getting the opportunity to perform in assemblies and celebrations. There is a school choir that performs at the Young Voices concert and at local events within the community, including a visit to a local Residential Home once a year. There is a specific singing assembly once a week and singing forms a part of every assembly. Our aim is that through playing, singing, creating and performing, children will develop confidence, communication, thinking and creative skills and improve their emotional well-being. The skills involved in playing and listening to music will help children to develop their self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, creativity, and self-motivation.
