Sandwell Plants 80 Trees for Peace to Mark 80 Years Since the End of WWII

Roots of Remembrance, Seeds of Peace

Sandwell is marking 80 years since the end of the Second World War by planting 80 native trees across six local parks, creating new Peace Gardens and Woodlands that will stand as living memorials for generations to come.

On Friday 24th October 2025, some of the School Council representatives from Galton Valley Primary School were selected to be a part of this special event. The event involved listening to War Veterans (some of who had strong links to Sandwell), taking part in a parade through the park and planting a Hawthorn tree.

We thank Sandwell Council for letting us be part of this event and sharing the photos with the school.
